These days, U2 news coming out is quite slow. However today, U2.com sent subscribers the following email:
Relative to the past two years, Twitter exploded with commentary and musings about what this email meant. This revealed how desperate we are for any new U2 information. According to sources from our friends at u2valencia.com, the email has nothing to do with the new album.

UPDATE (2013.10.16): A forum from atu2.com noted that the URL in the email sent by U2.com includes a reference to “MandelaTraler”. This may linked to the upcoming film, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom? It is currently being screened on the film festival circuit and will be released in the USA on November 29, 2013 and January 4, 2014 in the UK. Perhaps a soundtrack song? Interview with Nelson Mandela about U2?
UPDATE (2013.10.17): It has been confirmed that U2 are indeed making a new song for the movie Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom called “Ordinary Love“.
